The trails are providing all the workout I need these days. With melting and overnight freezing (-15 windchill -glad I wasn't out there), they are slushy, bumpy and narrow in places. Like walking a tightrope which is good for my balance. But I've had to take a ski pole along as I really don't want to turn an ankle. On the up side, the slightly warmer daytime temps mean less clothing is needed which is enjoyable. And surprise, surprise, the song birds are singing. We had a snowfall warning yesterday which didn't materialize and now are under a rainfall and freezing rain warning. The ground is still very frozen so where will the water go is the worry. I'm hoping it won't get as icy as we have had it so often in winter. Turkeys from my sewing room window...
How are you all? My day is going well. I've brought in wood for the day long fire, vacuumed the main area here, tidied my kindling I keep out on the veranda too and put away a couple more Christmas small odds and ends. Time to have a sit, sip a coffee, and talk to you.
I was just looking at the Pantone colour of the year for 2025. It's a shade they call Mocha Mousse which I think would be an easy on the eyes background colour in quilts. What do you think?
The late October warmth meant still more flashy blooms into early November. Like the Hardy Rose Mallow.
On the drive to our place there are lots of fields, farms and horse ranches. Many of the original zigzag cedar rail fences built by the pioneers have been maintained.
